The Experience

We love working at Koojarewon.  Not only are we surrounded by amazing views on a beautiful piece of land, we are surrounded by an amazing team.

Our people are our difference; we are all here to serve.  We would like your stay to be a highlight of your year so when you’re at Koojarewon, you will quickly see we are not like other camps.

We spend more money on food, team and presentation than people tell us we should; we do this just so you can enjoy this wonderful place and feel the joyous vibe.

Committed to Child Safety

At the heart of our camping ministry is a desire to help and see children reach their God-given potential… which is why we take safety really seriously. Koojarewon Youth Camp is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all children in our care. Our team take extra care to nurture children and protect them from harm and ensure compliance with all legislative requirements. Our practices and policies are directed and guided by the Lutheran Church of Australia’s Child Protection Policy.

Koojarewon Youth Camp has a rich history and we are proud to be a new part of it!

Koojarewon was the result of the vision of a group of Darling Downs Lutheran Church communities that resulted in the establishment of the camp in the early 1970s. Our core mission is the provision of a Youth Camp for children and teenagers, but also have other events such as weddings, family gatherings, and some community events.

Koojarewon Youth Camp is managed by Lutheran Youth of Queensland (LYQ).

LYQ is the youth department for the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District and our vision is to see young people and their families ‘Alive in Christ; Passionate in Service’. Our talented team love the opportunities that our camping, coaching and training ministries offer to make young people smile and to support them as they develop as people. There is nothing better than sharing the love of Christ with young people and seeing them reach their God-given potential.

Our Ministry

Holiday Camps

Every year we facilitate 12 amazing Holiday Camps for children and teenagers that are packed full of fun and adventure. Our popular camps give participants the opportunity to learn more about themselves and God within a safe environment. Every camp is led by a talented and trained team of volunteer leaders who organise fun age-appropriate activities and challenges.

Campsite Ministry

Our two beautiful campsites, Luther Heights Youth Camp, Coolum Beach and Koojarewon Youth Camp, Highfields provide school students and community groups with a retreat and team-building space. Our picturesque sites provide a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of life and our on-site programming teams create fun, age-appropriate experiences that help students discover more about themselves and their peers.

In-Schools Training

We are privileged every year to directly impact thousands of students through our In-school Training workshops. Our experienced team love working with teachers to deliver tailor-made programs that help students to grow as individuals, members of a team and leaders.

Young Adult Ministry

We provide opportunities for young adults to explore and experience faith through specific young adult events, training and mentoring. We also work with congregations to support young adults as they transition from high school to university life and seek to link those who are moving with a local Lutheran church for support.

Congregational Support

We believe that vibrant churches are the best way to grow life-long faith in children, youth and families. To support the great work of our Lutheran congregations we provide training, resources, networking opportunities and coaching.
